5 Emerging Players to Watch Out for in WPL 2025

Another electrifying season is slated for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, in which five teams—Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Giants (GG), UP Warriorz (UPW), and Delhi Capitals (DC)—will compete for the honored trophy. As seasoned cricketers flaunt their dominance, numerous entrants are ready to make their mark. Here is a brief look at five upcoming stars surely set to dazzle in WPL 2025.

Shweta Sehrawat (UP Warriorz)

Why She Is Considered a Player to Watch:
Shweta Sehrawat is fast emerging as one of India’s most promising young cricketers. She has shown her skill and consistency across formats, and domestic cricket first caught her on the radar when she posted her first List-A century for Delhi in 2021.

He led India to an ultra-favorable record, as the first-ever U-19 team to achieve such before its end on a historical home ground series 5-0 versus New Zealand. She went on to make the highest score in the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup by smashing 92 runs unbeaten against South Africa. The fearless stroke play and aggressive ability to combat spin will be enough for this talent to become a future game-changer for UP Warriorz in WPL 2025.

Niki Prasad (Delhi Capitals)

Niki Prasad is upsetting the enemies with her aggressive batting and strategy-based leadership. She was the captain of Karnataka who won the 2022 Women’s Under-19 T20 Trophy, being the top scorer with 162 runs at an SR of 125.58.

As the captain for India A in the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup, she led her team to a dominant championship victory. With her penchant for playing explosive cricket and a knack for match-winning strategies, she becomes a promising candidate for Delhi Capitals.

Shreyanka Patil (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

Shreyanka Patil is doing exceedingly well as an all-rounder, exhibiting her skills in both departments of the game. She hogged the headlines during WPL 2024 by winning the Purple Cap, being the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 13 scalps in eight matches. Her match-winning 4 for 12 in the final was pivotal in RCB clinching their first WPL title.

An impactful ball-turner and a match-winning contributor with the bat, Patil is expected to have a big role to play in the title defense of RCB.

G. Kamalini (Mumbai Indians)

G. Kamalini has already entered the limelight being the promising cricketer of India ever since she was 16. She was the second-highest scorer in the U19 Women’s T20 Trophy, having amassed 311 runs in eight matches with almost miraculous diktat to clear boundaries.

MI had bought her for INR 1.60 crore in the WPL 2025 auction, realizing her potential as a power-hitter and future star. Kamalini will now have the perfect opportunity of being groomed into a match-winner for the Mumbai Indians under some of the experienced members.

Priya Mishra (Gujarat Giants)

Priya Mishra is an emerging leg-spinner noted for her wicket-taking ability. She was the top wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy of 2023-24 with 23 wickets from just eight matches.

Her fabulous performances for India A included a five-wicket haul against Australia A, which won her an international debut against New Zealand in October 2024. Mishra’s ability to deceive the batters and grab crucial wickets will prove highly valuable for Gujarat Giants in WPL 2025.

With strong competition promised in the WPL 2025, these five emerging stars definitely have the potential to make headlines. In whatever capacity, batsmen, bowlers, or all-rounders are players to watch for, in their chase of creating a legacy for women’s cricket.
