Why Shreyas Iyer Abuse Shashank Singh
The PBKS captain hasn’t disclosed the reason for his loss of composure, so currently, everything remains speculation. Nonetheless, Iyer may have been displeased with how Singh got out.
In Punjab Kings’ significant victory against Mumbai Indians, one incident was notable for unfortunate reasons. During the 17th over, Shashank Singh was run out after striking the ball towards mid-on. Initially, it seemed that he had successfully arrived at the non-striker’s end. However, replays revealed he was jogging and did not jump. As a result, he fell just short of the crease and had to return after making only two runs.
Captain Shreyas Iyer was frustrated due to the sluggish running. Although the team celebrated their victory, Iyer was observed reprimanding Shashank on the field. He directed his finger at him, appeared furious, and uttered harsh phrases. The run out might have been prevented if Shashank had exerted more effort, and Shreyas was unhappy about it.
Shreyas Iyer vs Mumbai Indians
In the game, Mumbai Indians batted initially and made 203 runs for 6 wickets within their 20 overs. Jonny Bairstow, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Naman Dhir all provided significant input with the bat.
Iyer concluded the innings with 87 runs from 41 balls, surpassing Prabhsimran Singh as the leading run scorer for Punjab Kings this season. The PBKS captain has amassed 603 runs in 16 matches to date, boasting an average of 54.81 and a strike rate of 175.80.
