A Career to Remember: From Teenage Debut to World Cup Heroics
Veda Krishnamurthy burst onto the international cricket scene for India in 2011 at the young age of 18, making a splash with a solid 51 runs against England. Over the next 11 years, she truly became a key player for the women’s team.
Throughout her career, she played in 124 international matches for India: – 48 WODIs, where she scored 829 runs with an average of 25.90 – 76 WT20Is, accumulating 875 runs at an average of 18.61
One of her standout performances was during the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup semi-final against Australia. Her explosive 70 runs off just 45 balls propelled India into the final, marking a significant moment for the visibility of women’s cricket in India.
Final Matches and WPL Show
Veda’s last international match was during the 2020 T20 World Cup Final when India was runners up. Her final professional match was for the Gujarat Giants against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
