IPL 2025: Ramandeep Singh Stated Harsh Truth Regarding Gautam Gambhir

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have failed to show the same consistency as the previous year under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir in the Indian Premier League 2025.

KKR lost only three matches during their title triumph last year. This year, they’ve already lost the same number within the first five matches. Gautam Gambhir, who reprised his stint as KKR mentor for the last season, was an indispensable piece of machinery in KKR’s support. Yet, he couldn’t escape India head coach calls because he performed so well for KKR that he had to leave the franchise.

Is KKR missing Gautam Gambhir this season?

“A player like him, in any dressing room, you’ll always miss him, clearly,” KKR lower-order batsman Ramandeep Singh tells ESPNcricinfo. “But I believe DJ (Bravo) has a very good champion mindset within the team. His logo is that he’s a champion. And seriously, he’s a champion. He’s attempting to bring that mindset in every person.”

Ramandeep was on the eve of KKR’s match against Punjab Kings which is scheduled on Tuesday, March 15.

Discussing his position in the team, Ramandeep stated: “I’ve been assigned 5-7 positions in this team. The role that the team requires, I play according to that role. Clearly, you learn something from each match. I’m also trying to gain as much experience as possible, so that I can make myself a match winner.”

Speaking about the contrast between their previous year’s skipper Shreyas Iyer and the skipper this season Ajinkya Rahane, Ramandeep opined: “To be honest, both of them are excellent captains. I don’t think there is anything missing in either of them. But I feel Ajinkya Rahane has a lot of calmness in the dugout. He is the kind of player every young boy should look up to.

His personality, how he keeps himself around the game, everybody knows how he plays. In contrast, Shreyas has a very positive attitude, executes his strategies. I don’t think there is anything missing in either of them. But their play of play is different.”

KKR have won and lost in other matches this season. If they win their next game against Punjab Kings, they will win consecutive games for the first time this season.
