Rajasthan Royals in trouble? Facing match-fixing allegations after 2-run loss against LSG
Jaideep Bihani, the convenor of the RCA ad hoc committee, accused Rajasthan Royals of match-fixing following their recent defeat to Lucknow Super Giants. The team, despite good performances, could not chase down the target, and this raised eyebrows in the wake of RR’s poor performance this IPL season.
Rajasthan Royals, the first winners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) competition, find themselves in a different controversy now since the team was accused of match-fixing against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last IPL 2025 fixture.
Rajasthan Royals have not had the best of IPL seasons this year, with the 2022 finalists struggling in both batting and bowling, and skipper Sanju Samson still fighting injury issues. On top of the franchise’s woes are the new match-fixing allegations made against them by the Rajasthan Cricket Association.
Rajasthan Royals Match-Fixing
Telling News 18 Rajasthan, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener and Ganganagar BJP MLA Jaideep Bihani made match-fixing charges against Rajasthan Royals following their 2-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in their recent game.
“The ad hoc committee has been appointed by the state government in Rajasthan. It has extended for a fifth time. We make sure all competitions take place without any issues. But then just as IPL came, the Zila Parishad (district council) took control of it. For IPL, the BCCI had first sent a letter to RCA only, not Zila Parishad. The excuse given by them and RR that we don’t have an MOU from Sawai Mansingh Stadium. If MOU is not there, so what? Aren’t you paying Zila Parishad for every match?” Bihani told the publication.
What happenned during LSG vs Rajasthan Royals match?
Without skipper Sanju Samson, Royals were again captained by Riyan Parag against LSG in Jaipur. The home team bowled economically and were able to hold back LSG for only 180 runs. In response, RR openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided their team with a flying start through an opening partnership of 85 runs. Suryavanshi’s was quickly followed by the dismissal of Nitish Rana to move the score on to 94/2, but a Riyan Parag (39 from 26 deliveries) and Jaiswal stand stabilised the innings and ensured the side were set for a win.
But the Royals watched the win slip away from them as they lost a couple of early wickets and were unable to chase down 9 runs from the last over of Avesh Khan. Likewise, RR had lost their last match against Delhi Capitals after failing similarly to chase down 9 runs from Mitchell Starc’s last over. The RR had lost that match in the super over.
