Mohun Bagan AFC Champions League 2 Fixtures, Group Preview & Expectations
The wait is finally coming to an end! Mohun Bagan Super Giant, the reigning Indian Super League (ISL) Champions, will begin their AFC Champions League 2 campaign on September 16, 2025, when they face Ahal FC of Turkmenistan, at home.
The Mariners qualified for the 2nd tier club competition in Asia by claiming the ISL Shield earlier this year, and now they have an amazing opportunity to test themselves against some of the best clubs in Asia.
Mohun Bagan Faces Tough Battle in Group C
Mohun Bagan is in Group C, and it’s going to be a real challenge. They’ll be up against some tough teams:
- Sepahan SC (Iran): A top team in Iran with a lot of experience in continental tournaments.
- Al Hussein (Jordan): The champs from Jordan’s Pro League and a difficult team to play on their home field.
- Ahal FC (Turkmenistan): Mohun Bagan’s first opponent.
With these experienced Asian teams in the mix, Jose Molina’s team will need to bring their A-game if they want to make it to the next round.
Asia, get ready, the Mariners are coming 🔥

First Game: Mohun Bagan vs Ahal FC (Sept 16, Kolkata)
The Mariners will play their first game at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. With the loud home fans behind them, they want to kick off with a big win and get all three points against Turkmenistan’s Ahal FC.
It’s key to win the first game because the next ones are hard road games.
Second Match: Sepahan SC vs Mohun Bagan (Sept 30, Iran)
This will represent the biggest challenge that Mohun Bagan faced . Last season, Mohun Bagan did not play this away fixture in Iran because they withdrew over security concerns at the time and were subsequently eliminated from the tournament.
This time around, however, the Mariners are adamant to take the trip to Iran and prove its worth. A result away with this game will define their tournament stakes.
Match three: Al Hussein against Mohun Bagan (Oct 21, Jordan)
Mohun Bagan is back in action after nearly a month off, facing Al Hussein, who are the champs of the Jordanian Pro League. Going up against a tough Middle Eastern team on their home turf is going to be hard. Still, even grabbing a single point in this game would be big for Mohun Bagan’s chances of moving on.
Mariners’ Current Form
Mohun Bagan are going into the game riding high. In the Durand Cup 2025, they were top of their group, won all three games, and put in 12 goals thanks to hot striker Liston Colaco.
They are now set for a big match in the quarter-finals against East Bengal FC, a time to make their team even better before the big games come.
Fans are very happy with how they are doing, but the AFC Champions League 2 is a whole new game. The Mariners must bring their best to keep up with the size, speed, and smart moves of the top teams in Asia.
