Will Mehidy Hasan Miraz Available for the Second Test Against Sri Lanka

In a major update, vice-captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has reportedly been cleared of fitness issues and is anticipated to rejoin the playing XI for Bangladesh in the second and last Test against Sri Lanka. The second Test match is set to begin on June 25 in Colombo. Notably, team manager Nafees Iqbal has verified this news and mentioned that the spin-bowling all-rounder has returned to training after getting over a fever.

Mehidy had to miss the first Test after skipping two back-to-back training sessions due to being unwell. Bangladesh decided to replace him with top-order batter Anamul Haque Bijoy, but this strategy backfired as Anamul scored a duck in the first innings and had minimal overall effect.

Mehidy’s lack of attendance at training had sparked concerns regarding his readiness for the first Test. Nonetheless, he has eliminated all uncertainties by participating in the training session, according to Cricbuzz.

Team manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed on Thursday that “He (Mehidy Hasan Miraz) is much better and came to the ground today,”

His comeback is anticipated to boost Bangladesh’s team, particularly given that the Colombo pitch is recognized for favoring spin.

Mushtaq Ahmed departs from the Bangladesh camp.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official disclosed that spin bowling consultant Mushtaq Ahmed departed Galle on June 17, prior to the current Test match.

He is expected to come back during the ODI series beginning in early July.

“BCB and Mushtaq have a contract based on the number of working days. He was present during the preparation phase and left after completing his scheduled duties,” Nafees stated.
