John Cena’s Retirement Tour: Possible Final Opponents Revealed
John Cena’s Retirement Tour is the story that has flooded all wrestling headlines in 2025 with Cena setting the headlines ablaze in his hotly contested matches against Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and CM Punk; and where he was nothing short of a shocking heel at Elimination Chamber during his farewell season to make sure it is reloadable for every fan to be remember.
With limited matches to go before he officially hangs up his boots, the 17-time WWE World Champion may have just hinted at who his final opponents will be.
John Cena’s Retirement Tour Remaining Matches Reveal?
Cena talked about his wrestling soulmates at the Boston FanExpo on August 9. He mentioned Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Cody Rhodes.
Here’s the thing: Cena already wrestled Orton, Punk, and Rhodes earlier this year. Edge is now with AEW, so a rematch is probably not going to happen. That means Seth Rollins and AJ Styles are likely the guys he’ll face in his last two matches before he retires.

AJ Styles Wants One More Match With Cena
The AJ Styles and John Cena feud is one of the most regarded in modern WWE history, with their matches at Money in the Bank 2016, SummerSlam 2016, and Royal Rumble 2017 being instant classics.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Styles was asked about possibly having one more match with Cena:
“I would love to have it [another match], for sure. The first time I was in the ring with him, I was like, ‘Wow, dude, that was cool.’ So yeah, I would love the opportunity to work with Cena again.”
Currently, Styles is embroiled in a feud with Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Raw. If Styles and Cena do get a shot at one last match, it should be a show-stealing contest.
Why This John Cena’s Retirement Tour Is a Big Deal
John Cena isn’t just ending his WWE run – he’s making his last year a story-filled one. It’s a mix of looking back and creating new rivalries. His bad guy move surprised many earlier in the year, and his matches have included both old enemies and new talent.
If Rollins and Styles really are the last big event opponents before Gunther, Cena’s goodbye will be remembered as a really emotional and competitive send-off in WWE history.
