IPL 2025: SRH is Only Capable of Doing This

Sunrisers Hyderabad will not only be one of the most exciting and boisterous venues in the IPL season, but the Hyderabadi side also has another record to its name.

Sunrisers Hyderabad is the only club in the next IPL season to feature a foreign player as captain rather than a home player.

While almost every other club has a domestic player as captain, SRH is the only one of the ten to have a foreign player as captain: Patrick Cummins, also known as Pat Cummins.

Needless to say, this record has been with SRH for a long time, with David Warner serving as captain for the vast bulk of the seasons up to this point. Pat Cummins is carrying on the Australian captaincy heritage.

Strangely, Kane Williamson was the team’s captain for a short length of time before being let go by the club. Notably, SRH has had foreign leaders for the bulk of its existence, which is a record that few other teams can match.

However, with fresh talent like Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy rising through the ranks, we may anticipate the Hyderabad team to have a domestic captain sooner rather than later.
