Although it was anticipated to be out within a couple of days, Sports Tak has now reported that the full schedule would be out next week. The much-awaited 18th edition of the IPL is due to begin on March 21, 2025, but fans are still waiting for the official fixtures.

Why the Delay in the IPL 2025 Schedule?

Earlier, it was pointed out that the IPL schedule should come out this week but the governing council has decided to roll it over. The delay could have been caused by some logistical challenges, such as venue availability as well as security arrangements that need to be finalized before the actual announcement.

DC, RR Face Venue Disadvantages?

A major development revealed by Sports Tak is that two franchises, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), will play two of their home matches away from their traditional home grounds.

• Delhi Capitals will play two home matches in Vizag, a decision likely influenced by stadium readiness concerns. Last year, the team had to shift a few games to Vizag due to the proximity of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) finals and subsequent pitch preparation issues at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
• Rajasthan Royals are also set to play two matches away from home, with Guwahati being the most probable venue, as they have played there before. However, the official confirmation is still awaited.

New Rules Introduced for IPL 2025

Among the substantial rule changes of the IPL-2025 was that the ICC Players’ Code of Conduct would be adopted. IPL had its already stipulated discipline rules, but now players will follow the rules set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as they become international standard rules. This way, the uniformity and fairness of the game will be enhanced during the tournament.

IPL 2025 Final Likely at Eden Gardens

It’s confirmed that the IPL 2025 season will start on March 21, 2025, with the finals reportedly being held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, according to Rajiv Shukla.
