IPL 2025: Resume date revealed
Good news for IPL enthusiasts! The BCCI has announced that the remaining IPL 2025 matches will be resumed from May., reinstating the thrill after a temporary halt. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) 18th season kicked off with huge fanfare, featuring high-grade cricket action in six grounds.
But with hostilities between India and Pakistan mounting after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s surgical strikes against terror camps on the border, the tournament was unceremoniously put on hold as a precautionary measure.
After some time-out, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now confirmed that IPL 2025 will restart from May 17, with a complete 17-match program in place. The action will resume with a big-ticket encounter between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at 7:30 PM in Bengaluru.
Why Was IPL 2025 Suspended?
The suspension came after a red alert was sounded in Jammu and the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match in Dharamsala was cancelled due to a power outage and security alerts.
Hours later, the Indian armed forces launched precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. With increased border tension, the BCCI had to ensure safety for players, spectators, and everyone involved in the tournament.
BCCI’s Official Statement
ipl Chairman Arun Dhumal upheld that the suspension was temporary and done as a “precautionary measure.” The BCCI guaranteed that the league would resume once it was safe to do so, subject to the changing geopolitical situation. Security forces and state governments have since then been going over arrangements in all host cities.
