IPL 2025: These Players Will be The key For Mumbai Indians success
Mumbai Indians, the five-time winners, had a disastrous season last year, finishing bottom on the points standings with only four victories from 14 games in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Suryakumar Yadav (Batsman):
Suryakumar Yadav was a key member of India’s T20 World Cup-winning team in the Caribbean last year. Aside from his remarkable catch in the final, Surya was the second-highest Indian run scorer at the flagship tournament. However, Surya, who is currently India’s T20I skipper, will be looking to make a statement in this year’s IPL after being overlooked for the Champions Trophy.
Surya made 345 runs from 11 matches in the previous edition, including a 51-ball century against Sunrisers Hyderabad, making him only the second MI player after Rohit Sharma to reach two IPL hundreds.
Hardik Pandya, Captain of MI in IPL 2025
Hardik Pandya was booed at the toss and when he came in to bat in numerous of Mumbai Indians’ matches in the previous season after replacing Rohit Sharma as captain.
Scoring only 216 runs with the bat and getting 11 wickets did not assist his situation. However, after winning the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, Pandya has returned as a match-winner for India.
Rohit Sharma (Batsman)
Rohit Sharma, who was removed from captaincy last season, appeared lost in the middle. Though he hit an undefeated 105 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede, it was unable to propel MI to victory. However, considerable time has passed since the last IPL season, with Rohit leading India to T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy titles.
Rohit batted from the front and finished the T20 World Cup as the second top run-scorer, with 257 runs from eight matches. Given the way ‘Hitman’ has been playing recently, it’s hardly surprising that he unleashes his strokes right away to give Mumbai Indians a flying start.
Jasprit Bumrah (Bowler):
How can one rule out the world’s finest bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, as he recovers from an injury?
The Indian speed spearhead is expected to miss a few matches due to injury, but just seeing him at the top of his run-up with the ball in his hand unnerves batsmen all over the world.
Bumrah was one of Mumbai Indians’ few bright spots last season, taking 20 wickets in 13 matches, and the team will look very different when he returns.
Trent Boult (Bowler):
Trent Boult, a New Zealand left-arm pacer, played for the Mumbai Indians from 2020 to 2021 before joining the Rajasthan Royals from 2022 to 2024. MI repurchased Boult for Rs 12.50 crore at the 2025 mega auction.
In Bumrah’s absence for the first few matches, it will be up to Boult to produce early strikes and limit the rampaging batsman at the death.
