Mumbai Indians are in big trouble how can they overcome this problem?
In IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians might have some worries as their main pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, is set to miss a few opening matches of the tournament. Reports have suggested that Bumrah, recovering from a back injury since January, is likely not to recover fully before the start of the tournament. This is a big setback for the five-time IPL champions, with squad adjustments already hampering them.
Bumrah’s Recovery – What’s the Latest Update?
Bumrah hasn’t been bowling at full pace yet, read a report from Times of India. While the medical reports are at least somewhat encouraging, the BCCI doesn’t want to take the risk of bringing him back too soon. The idea is to ensure he is completely fit for the Test match series against England after the IPL.
A source close to the BCCI medical team stated:
“He has started bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, but returning to full intensity will take time. Early April seems like a realistic timeline for his comeback.”
Will MI Captain Hardik Pandya Also Miss a Game?
In yet another disaster for the Mumbai Indians, the skipper Hardik Pandya will be missing the IPL 2025 opener against the CSK owing to a one-match suspension. The penalty has been imposed because of MI’s slow over-rate offense in the prior season, and he has carried that suspension forward to next season.
Touching upon not being able to use two critical players in the opening game, Mumbai Indians need young and local talent, besides overseas pacers, to step up, otherwise, they will really be at the end of their ropes.
Mumbai Indians’ Tough Start Without Bumrah
Mumbai Indians begin their IPL 2025 campaign with two away games:
- March 23: vs. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai
- March 29: vs. Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad
Who Can Replace Bumrah for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025?
With Bumrah out, Mumbai Indians may turn to these bowlers to fill the void:
- Jason Behrendorff – The left-arm Aussie quick could lead the pace attack.
- Akash Madhwal – The young Indian pacer impressed last season and could get more responsibility.
- Gerald Coetzee – The South African fast bowler could be a strong overseas option.
