IPL 2025 all Teams Captain : From Pat Cummins to Ajinkya Rahane

Pat Cummins and Ajinkya Rahane will be among the two of the best leaders to watch out for in the IPL 2025. Pat Cummins will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Ajinkya Rahane will skipper Kolkata Knight Riders. The IPL 2025 season will begin on March 22.

The IPL 2025 season is just one week away, and all ten clubs have announced their leaders. The Delhi Capitals (DC) were the final team to announce their captain. As many as five IPL teams have new captains, while the remaining teams have kept their leaders. Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title in 2024, will head Punjab Kings in the following season.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The reigning IPL Champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will have a new skipper in Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane captained the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018 and 2019. He returns as captain after a six-year absence. He has never won the IPL trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Pat Cummins will continue to skipper Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Under his leadership, SRH advanced to the IPL 2024 final, but were defeated by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rajasthan Royals
The captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) remains unchanged, with Sanju Samson continuing to lead them. Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal were RR’s top retentions, with salaries of Rs 18 crore apiece.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
Rajat Patidar will make his IPL captaincy debut in 2025, leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Many anticipated Virat Kohli to return as captain, but he will continue to compete in the competition as a specialist batter.

Chennai Super Kings
Ruturaj Gaikwad will continue to captain the Chennai Super Kings. He took up the main post prior to the IPL 2024. MS Dhoni will play another season with the Yellow Army.

Delhi Capitals
Axar Patel has taken over as captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC). The great India all-rounder joined DC prior to the 2019 IPL season and has been with the team ever since. Axar has never led an IPL squad.

Lucknow Super Giants
Rishabh Pant will captain the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025. He signed with the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He succeeds KL Rahul, who has moved on to the Delhi Capitals. Rishabh captained DC in the IPL in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Gujarat Titans
Shubman Gill will continue to lead the Gujarat Titans (GT). Shubman succeeded Hardik Pandya as GT’s captain before IPL 2024. They failed to advance to the tournament’s second round.

Punjab Kings
Shreyas Iyer will take over as captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Iyer led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL 2024 title; however, the team did not retain him. At PBKS, Iyer will reunite with head coach Ricky Ponting, with whom he previously worked at DC for a few seasons.

Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya will lead the Mumbai Indians (MI) again. MI had a terrible season under Hardik, finishing bottom in the IPL 2024 points table.
