Asia Cup 2025: Big Fitness Updates on Pandya, Suryakumar & Shreyas Iyer

Hardik Pandya’s Fitness Test Ahead of Asia Cup 2025: Major Updates on India’s squad

Team India is getting ready, and proper expectations are in view for the up-close Asia Cup 2025. It is time for every player to finalize things player fitness is is priority number one! Meanwhile, star allrounder Hardik Pandya will begin a routine fitness test with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru August 11 and August 12, the first weekend of August – prior to India’s squad announcement.

Hardik Pandya – The Star All Rounder

From mid-July, Pandya has put in a lot of work in Mumbai, focusing on his hit, throw, and fixup. At 31, he played a big part in India’s wins at both the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, showing yet again how key he is for India’s white-ball team.

He can run well and strike hard, giving India a good mix, and his next health check will tell if he can play in the Asia Cup 2025 or not.

Shreyas Iyer is working hard to get back on the team.

Before Pandya’s assessment, Iyer went through his fitness tests at the NCA from July 27-29. He’s a middle-order batter who stays calm when things get tough, but he hasn’t played a T20I game since December of last year.

Iyer is a good leader. He led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final after leading KKR to their third title the year before. It’s not sure if he’ll be picked, but his experience could be a plus in the stressful Asia Cup 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav – Path to Recovery

Following surgery for a sporting hernia in Munich in June, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is also on his road to fitness. He has already started some light training and batting practice back at the NCA, but will stay under medical supervision for another week.

Recently, Surya posted a video on Instagram showing him batting, sprinting and lifting weights with the caption “Can’t wait to be back doing what I love”. He had a fantastic IPL 2025 season where he amassed 717 runs for the Mumbai Indians to win the Most Valuable Player Award.

Suryakumar has a record of 17 wins from 22 matches since replacing Rohit Sharma as the T20I captain – he can prove the importance of Suryakumar’s return to India’s campaign for the Asia Cup

Asia Cup 2025 – What to Expect

After some worries about the India-Pakistan situation back in May, the Asia Cup 2025 is still happening! It’s set to take place in the UAE, with games in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

  • Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE

India kicks things off on September 10, playing against the UAE.

And get this we might see India and Pakistan go head-to-head up to three times! That could make this year’s tournament a real hit with viewers.

India’s hopes for the Asia Cup 2025 could depend on the injury status of Pandya, Suryakumar and Iyer. The tournament commences on September 9, so every recovery day is important. Fans will be looking for a full-out squad to take on their fiercest limb rivals, and bring home the trophy.
