Ex MI Star Join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a Injury Replacement
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed “Baby AB” Dewald Brevis for the duration of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the BCCI announced on Friday. Brevis has been recruited to the CSK team to replace Gurjapneet Singh, the pacer.
CSK’s squad still had one overseas berth, which allowed them to sign an overseas substitute for an Indian pacer.
Who is CSK’s new signing? Dewald Brevis
CSK had one foreign place vacant, which has now been filled by one of the world’s most explosive young T20 batsmen. Brevis, 21, has already received global notice for his aggressive strokeplay and has previously played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, SA20, and Major League Cricket (MLC).

Brevis, who has played 81 T20s with a strike rate exceeding 145, enters the IPL in top form. He was one of the top ten run scorers in the SA20 earlier this year, with the greatest strike rate (184.17) of any of them. His recent performance with the Titans in both List A and first-class cricket strengthened his argument.
This transfer is anticipated to infuse new vitality into a CSK team that is presently sitting at the bottom of the points table, with only two wins at the midway point of the season. Brevis is CSK’s second replacement acquisition this year, after Ayush Mhatre, who replaced regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
CSK will be hoping Brevis can have an instant impact as they prepare for a high-stakes match against archrivals Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 20.
