Australia vs India: 90k Tickets Gone in 14 Days! Last Chance to See Legends?

The imminent white-ball series in October and November between Australia vs India is creating significant excitement, especially within the Indian community abroad.

After the tremendous success of Ashes ticket sales, interest in the limited-overs matches is skyrocketing, with more than 90,000 tickets purchased for eight games in only two weeks since they were made available to the public.

Tickets for the eagerly awaited ODI in Sydney and the T20 match in Canberra, planned for later this year, have sold out already, months ahead of the first ball being bowled. The games, scheduled for October and November, are part of a six-match tour that includes three ODIs and three T20Is.

Australia vs India: More than 90,000 tickets sold within a fortnight.

What’s driving the excitement for India vs Australia? A significant portion of it is the immense backing from the Indian community in Australia. Cricket Australia has announced that an impressive 90,000 tickets were sold for eight matches just two weeks after ticket sales began. Among them, more than 16% were bought by fan groups from India.

The Bharat Army obtained over 2,400 tickets by themselves, and another enthusiastic group, Fans India, acquired more than 1,400. Amit Goyal, a member of the Brissy Baniyas fan club, garnered attention by purchasing 880 tickets for the T20I at The Gabba, becoming the top individual ticket purchaser for a single match.

Koel Morrison, the Executive General Manager of Events & Operations at Cricket Australia, commented on the significant achievement in ticketing, stating.

Exhausting our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months prior to the series is a testament to the tremendous interest for the upcoming season amongst cricket fans.”

This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play in our country. And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we wanna make sure we give them a great send-off and a reflection of the incredible contribution they’ve made to international cricket,” Greenberg told IANS.
