Antony Set to Join Real Betis on a Permanent Deal in Summer Transfer Window 2025-26?

Antony has impressed during his loan stay with Real Betis, and now the Spanish club is trying to buy him permanently, as his future at Manchester United looks increasingly questionable.

Real Betis manager Manu Fajardo has acknowledged that the team hopes to keep Antony after the Manchester United flop’s impressive start on loan with the La Liga club. The Brazilian lost his confidence at Old Trafford but has been a breath of fresh air for Betis.

Antony had four goals and two assists in 13 games under former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, having recaptured his greatest form.

The 25-year-old earlier mocked United by saying that he was smiling again in Spain after being locked out by Erik ten Hag and his successor Ruben Amorim.

Following his success with Betis, there have been questions over his future, with the player unlikely to continue under Amorim after failing to start a single league game for United this season.

And now Betis manager Fajardo has spoken out on Antony’s future, claiming the club is eager to sign him permanently and would do “everything possible” to make that happen.

“It’s a source of satisfaction on a personal level, but it’s the result of teamwork,” Fajardo told Mundo Deportivo when asked about Antony’s outstanding performances at Betis thus far. Although I am in charge of the sports direction, this signing involves a large number of individuals. It is still early days, but we will attempt all we can to keep Antony happy.”

Antony has started every game since joining Betis after becoming a crucial member under Pellegrini, guiding the squad to eight victories across all competitions. He helped them to sixth place in the La Liga league and was a member of the club that proceeded to the UEFA Conference League quarterfinals.

In February, he discussed his troubles at United and how Betis had helped him gain confidence. He explained: “I wasn’t playing much, but I’ve been training hard. I needed to be pleased with myself. The most crucial aspect is to be as happy as possible with myself. I played very little at Manchester, but I’m grateful to them and the coach who spoke with me.”

He went on to say, “The most important thing is that I’ve found myself again.” But when I say I’ve found myself here, I’m glad since the folks are similar to those in Brazil. Sunlight is really beneficial. I am quite pleased here. “I wake up every day with a smile, which is very important.”

Pellegrini couldn’t see why Antony hadn’t advanced at United, saying: “The most important thing has been his mentality and self-criticism. If they spent that much for him, it is because he is a high-level player who, for reasons unknown to me, did not perform as expected at Manchester United.

“It’s retaliation against himself to demonstrate that he’s a lot more mature player. I chatted with him a lot to calm him down, without trying to show off, and to keep things easy.

“He is a great player who does important things for the team, and I hope he continues at that level until the end of the season because he will help us a lot.”
