As of September 19, 2024, after a historic brace by Sunil Chhetri, he has become the joint all-time top scorer in ISL history alongside Bartholomew Ogbeche. 5. Lallianzuala Chhangte – 40 goals
Lallianzuala Chhangte, known as the “Mizo Flash,” is one of Indian football’s brightest attacking talents and the second Indian on this elite list. A fine talent who has impressed consistently since making a move to Mumbai City FC from Chennaiyin FC, Chhangte made waves by scoring 16 and 13 goals in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, respectively.

So rapid the ascent has been: Mumbai City FC won the League Winners’ Shield in 2023 and ISL Trophy in 2024. His haul of 40 goals drew him a nomination for AIFF Men’s Player of the Year 2023-24, getting him into a class of the very best in the ISL elite.

Krishna joined Bengaluru FC in 2022-23, followed by a transfer to Odisha FC. He regained his form in Odisha FC; henceforth in the 2023-24 season, he scored 13 goals. He still features as one of the important strikers for Odisha FC with 58 goals.

Chhetri has been associated with the ISL since 2016, scoring match-winning knocks for Bengaluru FC and helping the side lift its maiden ISL title in the 2018-19 season. His effort in front of the goal has made him one of Indian football’s greatest players and at the age of 39, he seems to be showing no signs of retirement coming soon.
