BCCI AGM 2025: Mithun Manhas Set to Become New President? Key Office Bearers Finalized

Mithun Manhas is new BCCI president? The hallways of administration of Indian cricket is abuzz with activity because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28, 2025. Ahead of the BCCI’s formal appointment on the agenda, some of the veterans and top decision-makers were able to hold an informal meeting on Saturday, finalising the selection of candidates for vacant positions.

As reported by PTI, the revamped leadership framework process will feature new appointments, some candidates for re-election, structural amendments to positions, etc. An exciting year in cricket is on the horizon.

Mithun Manhas Set to Become New President of BCCI

Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas has risen to become the favorite to be the new president of the BCCI. Manhas has experience of an administrative position, as he was also director of cricket operations with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and has personal experience as a former player on the field.

The appointment is viewed as an opportunity to introduce diversity in the types of individuals who lead cricket management: former cricket professionals who have competitive and national level cricketing experience.

If it comes to pass, Mithun Manhas will replace the outgoing president and take hold of one of the strongest positions in world cricket.

Rajeev Shukla, Devajit Saikia to Continue in Their Roles

Things are heating up in Indian cricket as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gets ready for its yearly meeting on September 28, 2025. Leaders and important people got together on Saturday to decide who should fill the open positions before the big announcement.

PTI says that we’ll see some changes in leadership with new people, re-elections, and changes to how things are set up. This will make for a really important year for Indian cricket.

Raghuram Bhatt Most Probably the New Treasurer

The treasurer’s office is also experiencing a change of the second biggest nature. Raghuram Bhatt, ex-India spinner and outgoing KSCA President, is probably the next BCCI Treasurer.

Raghuram Bhatt has informed that he would not contest the elections scheduled for October 4 to the KSCA Executive Committee in which he has filed his nomination. Therefore, he is expected to take the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections and shift to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

A change of this magnitude is very much in line with the BCCI’s ongoing practice of appointing former cricketers to the helm of administration.

Prabhtej Singh Bhatia to Become Joint Secretary

At the AGM, Bhatia is going to move from the position of Treasurer to that of the Joint Secretary. As a part of the board’s restructuring to streamline governance and administrative efficiency, Bhatia will be the one to implement this change and work alongside Devajit Saikia.

In January this year, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia was chosen as the Treasurer of the BCCI.

Arun Dhumal Stays on as IPL Chairman

The Indian Premier League (IPL), which is cricket’s money-making tourney, will keep its current leader. Arun Dhumal is staying on as IPL Chairman, which means he’ll keep being a key person as the tourney grows around the world.

He and Avishek Dalmiya were voted back in last year to be on the IPL Governing Council. People have said that Dhumal’s guidance has helped the IPL get more popular and make more money.

Pragyan Ojha will be joining the Senior Selection committee

Decision of composition of team is going to be directly affected by former India spinner Pragyan Ojha filling the vacancy left by S Sharath in the national senior men’s selection committee.

Working with the chief selector Ajit Agarkar, Ojha will put in his international experience and the insights of players. Probably, it can be a different time for Indian cricket when the players are being scouted and the team is selected.

With the BCCI AGM 2025 on the horizon, the last list of office bearers embodies a combination of continuity and new arrivals. Mithun Manhas is set to take over the presidency while prominent names like Rajeev Shukla, Arun Dhumal, and Devajit Saikia will have significant positions. The board seems to be creating a mixture of experienced governance with fresh ideas.

The decisions made in the upcoming AGM will shape not only the environment of Indian cricket but also the future global course of the sport given the influence of the BCCI.
