ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Set for Kick-Off in India & Sri Lanka

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 is all set to begin on September 30 and will run until November 2, making it the 13th edition of the prestigious tournament. For the fourth time in history, India will be hosting, alongside Sri Lanka, in what promises to be a cricketing spectacle.

Across five iconic venues, fans will witness 31 matches packed with excitement, culminating in the grand finale on November 2, 2025. Let’s take a closer look at the five stadiums hosting Women’s World Cup 2025 matches.

DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai (India)

  • Capacity: 45,300
  • Key Matches: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh (Oct 20), India vs Bangladesh (final group game), Semi-Final 2 (Oct 30), and possibly the Final (Nov 2).

The DY Patil Stadium is one of India’s most modern venues and is remembered for hosting the inaugural IPL final in 2008.

Notably, this ground hosted India vs Australia Women’s T20I in 2022 and the historic India vs England Women’s Test in 2023, where Deepti Sharma took her maiden five-for.

For the first time, DY Patil will host ODIs in a Women’s World Cup, adding to its legacy.

Assam Cricket Association Stadium, Guwahati (India)

  • Capacity: 46,000 (largest venue of the tournament)
  • Key Matches: Tournament opener – India vs Sri Lanka (Sep 30), three group games, and potentially Semi-Final 1 (Oct 29).

Located in the northeast, this stadium has quickly risen in prominence since opening in 2012.

It hosted its first women’s international in 2019, and in men’s cricket, it’s remembered for Ruturaj Gaikwad’s stunning 123 vs Australia in 2023*. With its large seating capacity, it’s expected to deliver electric atmospheres for the World Cup.

ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam (India)

  • Capacity: 27,500
  • Key Matches: India vs South Africa (Oct 9), India vs Australia (Oct 12), and three more group games.

The Visakhapatnam ground has a special place in cricket history. It hosted MS Dhoni’s iconic 148 vs Pakistan in 2005, and in 2018, Virat Kohli became the fastest to 10,000 ODI runs here.

For women’s cricket, it staged its first ODI in 2010 vs England and a T20I in 2012 vs Australia. The 2025 World Cup will add another chapter with blockbuster matches like India vs Australia.

Holkar Stadium, Indore (India)

  • Capacity: 30,000
  • Key Matches: New Zealand vs Australia (Oct 1), India vs England, Australia vs South Africa, Australia vs England.

Holkar Stadium has been witness to several historic innings — from Sehwag’s 219 in ODIs (2011) to Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball T20I century in 2017.

For the Women’s World Cup, it will host five matches, including some of the most high-profile clashes of the group stage.

R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo (Sri Lanka)

  • Capacity: 35,000
  • Key Matches: Bangladesh vs Pakistan (Oct 2), up to 11 group stage matches, and possibly a semi-final and final.

The only non-Indian venue for the tournament, R. Premadasa Stadium is steeped in history.

It has hosted finals of the 1996 and 2011 Men’s World Cups, the 2002 Champions Trophy, and the 2012 Women’s & Men’s T20 World Cups.

From Sri Lanka’s record 952/6 in a Test vs India (1997) to multiple ICC finals, this venue is no stranger to cricketing milestones.

The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 promises not just thrilling cricket but also a celebration of the sport across five world-class venues in India and Sri Lanka. Each stadium comes with its unique history and memorable moments, setting the stage for another unforgettable tournament.

As the excitement builds, fans around the globe are gearing up to witness history being made in women’s cricket.
