Is Benjamin Sesko the Next Big Star at Manchester United? Teammates Reveal All
Earlier this month, Manchester United concluded a deal for Benjamin Sesko. The 20 year-old striker transferred from RB Leipzig on a five-year contract which extends until 2030 for a reported fee of £74 million. Upon signing, the Slovenian striker arrived at the club when he was expected to perform on high.
With him being one of Leipzig’s best players in their previous Bundesliga season in which he scored 21 goals and made six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions, Sesko certainly had a reputation to uphold.
But since arriving at United, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Benjamin Sesko. After being selected as a substitute in their Premier League opener against Arsenal in a 1-0 defeat, the 22-year-old has not made a goal contribution for the Red Devils.

With questions starting to arrive about whether he was worth the money it is easy to see why some United fans and pundits were convinced about Sesko’s signing. However, they were not alone. United stars have publicly came to the aid of their new teammate and offered their support of Sesko.
What Did Manchester United Players Say About Benjamin Sesko?
Harry Maguire is Impressed with Sesko
Club captain Harry Maguire thinks Sesko has what it takes to do well at Manchester United:
“He’s a unit for his age. I’m sure he’s going to cause a lot of defenders problems. He’s still young, but he’s got all the attributes to contribute to the team and to this club for many years to come.”
Maguire added that the team will fully support Sesko so he can reach his full potential.
Casemiro Sees Potential for Sesko
Midfielder Casemiro similarly expressed confidence in Sesko’s ability:
“He has quality. He is a player who is going to be very important for us. I hope that it goes really well for him because if it goes well for him, he is scoring goals for us!”
The Brazilian emphasized that when Sesko does well it means that his impact on United is their attacking strength.
Diogo Dalot Sees Energy and Hunger
Defender Diogo Dalot was also enthusiastic about Benjamin Sesko’s energy and hunger and desire to show what he can do at Old Trafford:
“Very energetic. He wants to learn a lot and help the team. You can feel he has a lot of quality. He wants to score goals and help straight away and I like that energy in him.”
Dalot’s remarks reinforce the youthful hunger that Sesko brings to the squad.
Everybody is eager to find out if Benjamin Sesko will be given his debut at Man United in the EFL Cup match against Grimsby Town on August 27. If he manages to play well, it would be a brilliant way for him to ‘make a statement’.
After the cup game, United have a home fixture against Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford on August 30. Supporters will then be looking to see if the £74 million signing can get off the mark.
Benjamin Sesko hasn’t had the fastest start with Manchester United, but his teammates seem to have a lot of faith in him. Big names like Maguire, Casemiro, and Dalot are supporting him, and with chances coming in the EFL Cup and Premier League, he could prove the doubters wrong and become a really important player for United.
