Rusty India? Here’s Why Suryakumar Yadav’s UAE Camp is Crucial for Asia Cup 2025

Suryakumar Yadav Prepares for Asia Cup 2025: India’s Training Camp in UAE

With Team India’s white-ball series against Bangladesh being shelved for August 2025, they now find themselves on a rare month-long break. However, cricket is never paused, so the attention moves to the Asia Cup 2025 starting in a month.

To avoid any potential rustiness, BCCI has organized a special preparatory camp in UAE, with Suryakumar Yadav and his unit taking the lead.

India’s Got a Month Off Before the 2025 Asia Cup

India last played a real international game on August 4, 2025. That was when Mohammed Siraj bowled out Gus Atkinson at The Oval during the England Tests. There was supposed to be a white-ball series against Bangladesh to fill the time, but that got canceled. So, India’s next time playing competitive cricket will be at the Asia Cup.

The team knows it’s risky to go into the event without any practice. Instead of holding a training camp at India’s Centre of Excellence, they’re heading to Dubai. It’s closer to what the actual games will be like. Players will get there three or four days early, so they can get used to the weather, fields, and the feel of playing in a real match.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Big Return and Why UAE Camp Matters

Many are looking forward to Suryakumar Yadav’s comeback after his hernia surgery. The Dubai camp gives him a great chance to find his groove, get sharp, and prep for the tough Asia Cup games.

Known for his strong hits and skill in playing in the middle, Suryakumar will be key for India, more so in UAE where the bowlers usually rule. With other players like Abhishek Sharma also out of play since IPL 2025, this camp is even more key.

India vs Pakistan: Different Approaches to Preparation

While India is heavily relying on its UAE camp to get fine-tuning, Pakistan will arrive battle-hardened. Pakistan has a busy schedule ahead of the Asia Cup — a white-ball series against Bangladesh and the West Indies and then a tri-nation series with the UAE and Afghanistan in Sharjah.

That could mean Pakistan play up to five matches before the Asia Cup starts, while India is preparing with a camp. Pakistan’s selectors are also going to try out 2–3 players during these matches, creating even more squad depth and match readiness.

Asia Cup 2025: UAE’s Home-Field Edge

The Asia Cup games are set for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where the conditions usually mean slower pitches, humidity, and good news for spin bowlers. India’s planning to get a head start by training in the UAE. This should help players like Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Abhishek Sharma get used to what it’s really like during matches.

At the same time, Pakistan’s been practicing in Sharjah, which means they’re also going to feel pretty at home on those UAE pitches. This all points to a pretty exciting showdown when these two big teams finally go head-to-head.
