India Probable Playing XI for 5th Test vs England at The Oval: Big Changes Expected 4 Players Could Drop
India Gearing Up for Final and 5th Test vs England: The fifth and final Test of 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England will begin on July 31 at The Oval, and the Indian team may have significant changes due to injuries and workload management.
Dhruv Jurel Set to Replace Pant in Ind vs Eng 5th Test
Bad news for India: Rishabh Pant is out of the fifth Test. He hurt his foot on the first day of the fourth Test. The BCCI brought in Narayan Jagadeesan to fill Pant’s spot, but it looks like Dhruv Jurel will be the one taking over as wicketkeeper-batter.

Jurel is known for staying calm and being good with his gloves. People think he’ll do a good job in the middle order.
Jasprit Bumrah Misses Final Test Due to Workload Management
Another prominent name not in the XI is No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was originally scheduled to play just three Tests in the series. Bumrah has played three Tests, and he will sit out the 5th Test due to workload management as he prepares for future assignments.
The team management, including captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir, refused to let anyone know Bumrah was definitely out, but it seems certain now.
With Bumrah sidelined, Akash Deep—who impressed in the second Test with 10 wickets—is expected to return to the XI after missing the fourth match because of a groin injury.
Also likely to make his Test debut is Arshdeep Singh, India’s top wicket-taker in T20Is. Arshdeep was supposed to play in Manchester but missed out due to a last-minute injury during practice. If he’s fit, the left-arm pacer could finally make his red-ball debut in England.

Given the lackluster performances of Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj in the fourth Test, expect the Indian think-tank to recall Kuldeep Yadav. The wrist-spinner has not played a Test in over nine months, but is a different type of bowler and adds control, particularly on an Oval pitch that generally spins in the last few days.
No Changes in Top Order or All-Rounders
The same top four Indian batsmen—Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill—will probably play. Plus, the middle order seems pretty set since Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar both hit centuries without getting out in the last innings of the fourth Test.
Because the batting lineup is so good, India probably won’t pick another all-rounder. They might just go with four bowlers who only bowl at 5th test of The Oval
Predicted India Playing XI for the 5th Test at The Oval:
- Yashasvi Jaiswal
- KL Rahul
- Sai Sudharsan
- Shubman Gill (C)
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Washington Sundar
- Dhruv Jurel (WK)
- Kuldeep Yadav
- Arshdeep Singh
- Akash Deep
- Mohammed Siraj
