CSK Legend Join as New Head-Coach of Trinbago Knight Riders ahead of CPL 2025

In a major move, Trinbago Knight Riders have secured the iconic West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as their head coach for the forthcoming Caribbean Premier League season. The iconic cricketer takes over from Phil Simmons, who is now the head coach of the Bangladesh men’s cricket team.

With Bravo at the helm, TKR will embark on their quest for a historic 5th CPL title beginning August 17.

Bravo participated in 107 games in the CPL from 2013 to 2024. He played for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in nine of the 11 seasons and secured the championship five times, including in 2021, when he captained St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. With 129 CPL wickets and 1,155 runs, Bravo is regarded as one of the top cricketers in CPL history.

This morning, the news was confirmed when Dwayne Bravo thanked the Knight Riders’ franchise for naming him the head coach.

“It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), a team that’s very close to my heart. I would like to personally thank Coach Phil Simmons for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff,” Bravo was statet on ESPNCricinfo.

“After a decorated playing career filled with match-winning performances and championship moments, Sir Champion now takes the reins in a new role, ready to inspire and train the next generation of Knights from the dugout, ” the franchise stated in their statement.

Dwayne Bravo’s Coaching Career

Bravo, who stepped away from the Indian Premier League following the 2022 season, started his coaching role with Chennai Super Kings, acting as their bowling consultant.

He was named the head coach of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 last year. He also acted as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2025.

During the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bravo served as the bowling consultant for Afghanistan, who were defeated by South Africa in the semi-final.
