Fancode takes down PSL 2025 coverage from website following Pahalgam terror attack
The decision was made after the fatal terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday claimed 26 lives.
Indian live streaming service, Fancode, will now not telecast any of the remaining matches in the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The decision was made in the aftermath of the horrific terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 people dead on Tuesday.
Fancode removes PSL 2025 coverage from website
Fancode was the sole official streaming partner for PSL games in India. The platform broadcast the first 13 games of Pakistan’s top T20 tournament. But sources confirmed the news to Hindustan Times that during the terror attack at Pahalgam, the OTT platform halted broadcasting any further PSL matches. The site also deleted all details of future PSL matches in the season and highlights of past games in the season.
The decision will take a severe toll on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), whose audience is sure to see a serious decline.
What happened in Pahalgam?
On Tuesday, at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, terrorists unleashed one of the deadliest attacks in the Kashmir Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF personnel had died. Terrorists fired indiscriminately on civilians, and at least 26 people were killed and a number of others injured. The Resistance Front (TRF), which is affiliated with the outlawed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, claimed the attack. The attack has evoked a universal condemnation from all over the world.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BCCI released a statement to condemn the “ghastly and cowardly” attack. “The cricketing community is shocked and distressed at the unfortunate loss of innocent lives in the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam yesterday,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated.
“On behalf of the BCCI, condemning this heinous and cowardly act in the strongest possible terms, I offer our deepest condolences to the grieving families and prayers for the souls departed. In sharing their sorrow and grief, we stand hand in hand at this moment of tragedy,” he added.
