IPL 2025: Top 5 uncapped players to watch out
As with every season, some uncapped cricketers are sure to rise to prominence during the IPL 2025 season. Here are five likely contenders.
For this list, we will include cricketers who have not yet been capped at the international level, as well as in the IPL. The list will thus exclude cricketers like as MS Dhoni, Sandeep Sharma, Mohit Sharma, and Karun Nair, who are uncapped under the IPL’s new criterion.
Top Uncapped Players of IPL 2025
Suryansh Shedge (Punjab Kings)
Shedge’s big moment occurred during the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. Chasing 175 against Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai slipped to 129-5 when Shedge went out and hammered 36 not out in 15 balls with three fours and three sixes, adding to Venkatesh Iyer’s previous wicket.
This was the conclusion of his debut tournament, in which he scored 131 runs with a strike rate of 252 (no typo) and took eight wickets. Punjab could have won the jackpot.
C Andre Siddarth (Chennai Super Kings)
Andre Siddharth, the nephew of Tamil Nadu veteran S Sharath, is only 18 years old and has yet to play a T20 match despite playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. However, his outstanding Ranji Trophy performance, in which he scored 35 in each of his first eight innings (612 runs at 68.00), made his brilliance abundantly evident.
Robin Minz (Mumbai Indians)
Minz had the world at his disposal when he was selected by the Gujarat Titans for the 2024 IPL, but a tragic road accident put his aspirations on hold for another year. This time, the Mumbai Indians paid him INR 65 lakh, more than double his base price of INR 30 lakh. Minz, 22, is a power batter from Jharkhand who averages 181 in T20 cricket. He also maintains wicket.
Bevon Jacobs (Mumbai Indians)
Jacobs, the sole overseas cricketer on this list, was born in Pretoria and has played for Auckland and Canterbury. He joined the Mumbai team for the IPL 2025 after only six T20 games, probably due to his strike rate of 189 at the time. After 20 games, that figure has largely recovered to the norm, but 148 still a remarkable strike rate.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals)
Suryavanshi, 13, has already made headlines with a 58-ball century against the Australia Under-19s, explosive batting in the Under-19 Asia Cup, and a vicious attack on Mukesh Kumar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Suryavanshi may soon become the first player younger than the IPL 2025 to participate in the IPL, given that Rajasthan is expected to field an Indian-heavy batting lineup.
